Great Salt Lake and Antelope Island State Park

QUICK FACT: The total amount of salt dissolved in the Great Salt Lake is about 4.5 to 4.9 billion tons.(MRI, Inc 2011)

The Great Salt Lake is the largest natural lake west of the Mississippi River.  Great Salt Lake is approximately 75 miles long and 35 miles wide.  Sunsets over the lake can be breathtaking.  Amazing red, orange, lavender and magenta hues slowly dissolve in the evening sky.

Antelope Island State Park is a perfect place to view the Great Salt Lake.  Antelope Island is part of the Utah State Park System.  Visitors can reach the island by boat or via automobile over a causeway that extends west from Layton.  Antelope Island appears barren and deserted but is home to a variety of flora and fauna native to the Great Basin region.

Recreational activities include sunbathing, swimming, picnicking, hiking/biking, sail boating and camping.  Wildlife that can be seen on the island include: Antelope, bison, deer, coyotes and many different varieties of birds and fowl.

Antelope Island State Park is approximately 18 miles from Century Mobile Home and RV Park.

DIRECTIONS FROM CENTURY RV PARK: Southbound I-15, take exit 332, turn West (right) on Antelope Rd. / 1700 S. and continue west for approximately 7 miles until you reach the Antelope Island Causeway Tollbooth. Entrance fee is $10 per vehicle.

Hill Aerospace Museum

Hill Aerospace Museum is located on the northwest corner of the Hill Air Force Base.  The museum exhibits more than 90 military aircraft, missiles and aerospace vehicles on the grounds and inside the Major General Rex A. Hadley Gallery and the Lindquist Stewart Fighter Gallery.  The collection also includes a wide variety of ordinance and munitions, an assortment of aerospace ground equipment, military vehicles, uniforms, and thousands of other historical artifacts. Admission is free and the museum is open Monday through Saturday from 9:00-4:30. Closed New Years, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

The Aerospace Heritage Foundation of Utah sponsors an event every September that gives citizens a closer and more intimate look at some of our nations military artifacts while collecting food and monetary donations for the Hill Air Force Base Airman’s Attic. This charity benefits those who have or currently are serving our country, but need that extra help to make ends meet. So, if you are here in September, take some non-perishable food and head out to the museum to not only help those who help us, but get an intimate experience of our nations military services and equipment.

Hill Air Force Base also opens it’s gates to nonmilitary personnel one weekend during the summer. This event is also free and educates those interested of the military and its services. This weekend is filled with many types of air shows, including the famous Thunderbirds.

Areospace Heritage Foundation of Utah

The museum is approximately 6 miles south of Century Mobile Home and RV Park.

From Century RV Park, take I-15 southbound to exit 338 and turn East (left) and attraction will be straight ahead.

Union Station

The museums housed at the station include:

Utah State Railroad Museum, Eccles Rail Center, Utah Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum, John M. Browning Firearms Museum and the Browning-Kimball Classic Car Museum.

The Union Station in Ogden, Utah also known as the Ogden Union Station is located on Historic 25th Street approximately 2. 34 miles from Century Mobile Home & RV Park. It was formerly the junction of the Union Pacific and Central Pacific Railroads. This attraction is a venue for many other events throughout the year and is known as a permanent landmark for Ogden, Utah. Below is a list of some annual events at the Union Station:

  • Ogden Farmers and Arts Market (Every Saturday July to September)
  • Night At The Museum

There is also a giftshop, Warrens Model Train Museum and a local favorite restaurant, Union Grill.

Tickets to the Ogden Union Station include all 4 museums and varies with age and the number in your party. Please visit thier website to get more information on a big contributor to Ogden’s culture.

To get to the Union Station from Century RV Park: Exit the park on 2100 S and turn East (right), Drive approximately 2 miles to Wall Avenue, turn South (right), Continue south on Wall Avenue for 1 mile and the Union Station will be on your right. There is plenty of parking on the north and south  sides of the building.

Treehouse Children’s Museum

The Treehouse Children’s Museum features dozens of award-winning exhibits based on literacy, literature and the arts.  It is truly a treasure for the children and families of Northern Utah.  Treehouse is the place where children can step into a story. It is a valuable resource for parents and teachers who are striving to help their children grow into life-long readers.

Ogden Nature Center

The Ogden Nature Center is a peaceful nature preserve and education center dedicated to uniting people with nature.

152 acres are available for discovery and exploration. The preserver is a hot spot for birders and wildlife viewing. Tall grass meadows, birds of prey, woods and winding trails, treehouses, an observation tower, bird blinds and two beautiful green buildings all come together to make up the Ogden Nature Center campus.  Hands on nature exhibits, snakes, tortoises, salamanders, owls, hawks and eagles.  Picnic areas & ponds and 1. 5 miles of trails.

Ogden Nature Center offers classes and workshops, sponsors Summer Camps and concerts.

George S Eccles Dinosaur Park

Dinosaur Park is an exciting collection of creatures from prehistoric crawlers, to predators, to marine animals, and even flying reptiles.  More than a hundred dinosaur sculptures fill the park.  These realistic full-sized sculptures are based on actual fossil skeletons, and are brought to life by robotics, artistic details and a state-of-the-art sound system.

Cherry Hill Water Park

Cherry Hill offers a variety of water fun.  Activity pool with a 40 ft pirate ship that has a simulated cannon battle and Caribbean sound.  A Cardio Canyon River run that is foam padded and loaded with caverns, waterfalls, sudden drops and turns.  The Grants Gulch Lazy River has an endless river of fun for you to float and soak in. The Double Dragon water slides with fog and lighting in the tunnels.  Choice of 2 swimming pools to soak and sun at.

Lagoon Amusement Park

Get your thrills and chills at Lagoon!!

Twist, turn and fly on one the 46 rides.  Feel your heart race on the X-Venture attractions.  Slip and slide through whitewater waves at Lagoon-A-Beach.  Take a trip back to the Wild West in Pioneer Village.  Sing along with the best shows in town.  Scare yourself silly at Frightmares !! in October.

If you want to travel to SLC and see Temple Square and other sites, check out the “Front Runner Train” and the “Trax”.  Catch Frontrunner 2.34 miles from Century Park and ride it to SLC.  Ample parking at the Ogden station so you don’t have to drive in the traffic!!
